The Fruitarian Living in a Human Diet Horror Movie

I'm scared, really really scared for the human species. Since becoming a fruitarian and completely rebuilding my body and health to peak levels I now see how sick everyone else is around me.

The diets that are eaten in industrialized society today is a ticket to suffering, death and destruction. Our medical systems and hospitals are overrun and in dire states.

People are sick and only getting sicker, and it's almost all due to diet.

The greatest challenge of human history is upon us. All the wars, conflicts and plagues of human history cannot compete with the death and destruction that is taking hold of our society today all due to our horrible perverted relationship with processed foods. I feel like I'm trapped in the Matrix movie, human society is so out of touch that it seems like there is no hope at times....

Spirulina Production

A video from one of the world's greatest producers of Spirulina - Cyanotech, showing how it is cultivated and processed.

Ron Gutman: The hidden power of smiling

When I was a child, I always wanted to be a superhero. I wanted to save the world and then make everyone happy. But I knew that I'd need superpowers to make my dreams come true. So I used to embark on these imaginary journeys to find intergalactic objects from planet Krypton, which was a lot of fun, but didn't get much result. When I grew up, and realized that science-fiction was not a good source for superpowers, I decided instead to embark on a journey of real science, to find a more useful truth.

I started my journey in California with a UC Berkley 30-year longitudinal study that examined the photos of students in an old yearbook and tried to measure their success and well-being throughout their life. By measuring their student smiles, researchers were able to predict how fulfilling and long-lasting a subject's marriage will be, how well she would score on standardized tests of well-being and how inspiring she would be to others. In another yearbook, I stumbled upon Barry Obama's picture. When I first saw his picture, I thought that these superpowers came from his super collar. But now I know it was all in his smile.

Another aha! moment came from a 2010 Wayne State University research project that looked into pre-1950s baseball cards of Major League players. The researchers found that the span of a players smile could actually predict the span of his life. Players who didn't smile in their pictures lived an average of only 72.9 years, where players with beaming smiles lived an average of almost 80 years.

(Laughter)

The good news is that we're actually born smiling. Using 3D ultrasound technology, we can now see that developing babies appear to smile, even in the womb. When they're born, babies continue to smile -- initially, mostly in their sleep. And even blind babies smile to the sound of the human voice. Smiling is one of the most basic, biologically-uniform expressions of all humans.

In studies conducted in Papua New Guinea, Paul Ekman, the world's most renowned researcher on facial expressions, found that even members of the Fore tribe, who were completely disconnected from Western culture, and also known for their unusual cannibalism rituals, attributed smiles to descriptions of situations the same way you and I would. So from Papau New Guinea to Hollywood all the way to modern art in Beijing, we smile often, and you smile to express joy and satisfaction.

How many people here in this room smile more than 20 times per day? Raise your hand if you do. Oh, wow. Outside of this room, more than a third of us smile more than 20 times per day, whereas less than 14 percent of us smile less than five. In fact, those with the most amazing superpowers are actually children who smile as many as 400 times per day.

Have you ever wondered why being around children who smile so frequently makes you smile very often? A recent study at Uppsala University in Sweden found that it's very difficult to frown when looking at someone who smiles. You ask, why? Because smiling is evolutionarily contagious, and it suppresses the control we usually have on our facial muscles. Mimicking a smile and experiencing it physically help us understand whether our smile is fake or real, so we can understand the emotional state of the smiler.

In a recent mimicking study at the University of Clermont-Ferrand in France, subjects were asked to determine whether a smile was real or fake while holding a pencil in their mouth to repress smiling muscles. Without the pencil, subjects were excellent judges, But with the pencil in their mouth, when they could not mimic the smile they saw, their judgment was impaired.

(Laughter)

In addition to theorizing on evolution in "The Origin of Species", Charles Darwin also wrote the facial feedback response theory. His theory states that the act of smiling itself actually makes us feel better -- rather than smiling being merely a result of feeling good. In his study, Darwin actually cited a French neurologist, Guillaume Duchenne, who used electric jolts to facial muscles to induce and stimulate smiles. Please, don't try this at home.

(Laughter)

In a related German study, researchers used fMRI imaging to measure brain activity before and after injecting Botox to suppress smiling muscles. The finding supported Darwin's theory by showing that facial feedback modifies the neural processing of emotional content in the brain in a way that helps us feel better when we smile. Smiling stimulates our brain reward mechanism in a way that even chocolate -- a well-regarded pleasure inducer -- cannot match.

British researchers found that one smile can generate the same level of brain stimulation as up to 2,000 bars of chocolate. (Laughter) Wait. The same study found that smiling is as stimulating as receiving up to 16,000 pounds Sterling in cash. That's like 25 grand a smile. It's not bad. And think about it this way: 25,000 times 400 -- quite a few kids out there feel like mark Zuckerberg every day.

And, unlike lots of chocolate, lots of smiling can actually make you healthier. Smiling can help reduce the level of stress-enhancing hormones like cortisol, adrenaline and dopamine, increase the level of mood-enhancing hormones like endorphin and reduce overall blood pressure.

And if that's not enough, smiling can actually look good in the eyes of others. A recent study at Penn State University found that when you smile you don't only appear to be more likable and courteous, but you actually appear to be more competent.

So whenever you want to look great and competent, reduce your stress or improve your marriage, or feel as if you just had a whole stack of high-quality chocolate -- without incurring the caloric cost -- or as if you found 25 grand in a pocket of an old jacket you hadn't worn for ages, or whenever you want to tap into a superpower that will help you and everyone around you live a longer, healthier, happier life, smile.

Vaccination - The Hidden Truth

Many people ask what to do about vaccination. I leave you with several videos to make you think about it and decide...

Excellent Australian documentary from 1998, showing surprising facts and data, not well known and pointing what could be one of the greatest mistakes from medical history
and one of the biggest scams perpetuated by human society.

"From information from studies of qualified medical journals, written by vaccinators, vaccines don´t prevent diseases, they create diseases. They turn the vaccinated people more susceptible to the disease that the vaccine is supposed to prevent and to several bacteriologic and viral infections. Vaccines cause allergies, sensibility to certain foods and chemical substances, being irrefutable the causal relation between the application of vaccines and  the collateral effects caused. Being cerebral damage or death, it's all well documented." Dr. Viera Scheibne

Raw Food - Getting Started Simple and Healthy Way

As you can see this blog talks about a type of food tha for many may seem "weird" and completely different from what most are accustomed to consume on a day-to-day basis. Many people ask me how to improve the diet to solve the most varied conditions, health problems, lack of energy, obesity, etc...

I'm no doctor but from my experience and a lot of information I have collected over time I am able to draw some lines that could contribute to a healthier lifestyle, starting with the eating changes.

The benefits of eating raw can be a lot since our natural diet should be as similar to the one practice by wild animals in nature.
Those animals do not process the food (baking, roasting, etc.). They eat them the most natural way - raw.  And they don't suffer from diseases like we do.

Many people throughout the world has reversed  various conditions / diseases by turning to Living Foods. It was my case. But a radically change to this type of diet can have consequences that one can not always understand and make us give up. Here are some tips for those who want to change.

For those who want to start Living Foods is Important

  • -Simplify
  • -Start slowly introducing more raw foods
  • -Use spices and seasonings we like in the adapted raw versions
  • -Cut products that harm us as sugar, animal products, processed foods, refined, etc.
  • -Avoid liquids with meals
  • -Use quality salt (Himalayan, fleur de sel or unrefined salt)

Meals throughout the day

The ideal is to start by replacing food. In the morning - fruit until midday, before the other meals eat a raw salad - do not  mix cooked with raw. Lettuce is an exception that can be mixed. First eat carbohydrates and protein after. If you eat meat, fish, cheese or eggs eat them at the end of the meal. Do not eat desserts. If you want leave the fruit or desserts for after digestion.

The breakfast  can be three pieces of fruit, eg bananas, apples. Do not mix  acidic fruit with sweet fruits. You can add a few almonds, walnuts or sunflower seeds, shelled seeds (soak in water over-night) to the fruit or salads. Or make a juice / green juice.

According to some hygienists as Harvey Diamond, Vivian Vertrano, and others the Circadian Rhythm  is as follows:

12:00-20:00 Digestion ...
8:00 p.m. to 4:00 ... Assimilation
4:00 to 12:00 ... Cleansing / Detoxification

In reality there is controversy on this matter and the positions differ according to the authors and the line of nutrition they follow, but the circadian rhythm is there and it interferes with the metabolic processes, sleep and all body functions.

Each one must discover how it feels better with different types of food at different times of day but usually these hygienists  theories give good results in the choice of foods that we eat throughout the day. The ideal is to eat more pure (fruit, etc.) until noon and then eat the cooked (for those who eat cooked).

Personal Choice

I personally eat a Raw Diet and basically when there is no another possibility I eat some cooked food. In the morning I feel better  eating only fruit, if possible without great mixes. Eventually I also use some super-food in my smoothies or juices. Raw cocoa/cacao(antioxidant and much more), spirulina (Queen of protein), wheat grass or barley powder (a source of many nutrients), sprouted seeds, maca, chlorella, chia (rich in fiber and omega 3) and others (not mixed everything at once - of course).

Raw vs Cooked

The fact that we eat raw food before cooked benefits greatly because we are consuming foods rich in enzymes and our body takes them in a natural way. When we eat processed foods (cooked, etc.) the body attacks them as something strange also is forced to spend enzymes that could be used in cleaning and maintenance. An example of this condition happens when we have  blood tests - we have to  fast so that there is no huge count of leukocytes (not only). If we are not fasting seems almost like we have leukemia because of the great quantity of white blood cells that the body produces to attack the cooked food.

Digestive Track Exercise

On another side, who's going to start this type of diet is important to note that our digestive system is not sufficiently in order to digest and process raw food. After many years of eating cooked food the body has lost capacity, as someone who is sedentary will have difficulty in making a forced exercise. Moreover with the introduction of raw the body begins to detoxify, the toxins go through the bloodstream, various symptoms may arise as headaches, nausea and fatigue. Hence the importance of starting slowly to avoid these
conditions and train properly the digestive tract.

If however we have possibilities as free time (vacations, etc.) we can force a little bit the process. Yet the ideal is to do it with counseling and other methods of cleansing and detoxification.

Following these tips and other articles from the blog will be possible to greatly improve our well being and reverse eeventualmente more serious conditions. The choice is personal ...

Endnotes

The most important thing is to keep the joy of living and believe that we can change for the better. No need to enter into radicalism or dietary obsessions but listen to the body and adapt.

Peace

Spirulina & Wheatgrass juice made easy

Made with Spirulina & Wheatgrass powder, mixed with Organic Rice Milk.

Off course the rice milk is not raw but accordingly to some alchemists mixing super foods, such as Spirulina or Wheatgrass ,can re-structure the water contained in this liquid and in that way the body accepts it in a better way.

This is also a way to make these superfoods more palatable for those starting with this type of foods.

I recommend not smelling it so much as it can put you off when not used to the smell of both Spirulina and Wheatgrass.

But Where Do You Get Your Protein?

Confused about how much protein you need, whether you're getting enough, and
which are the best sources?

If there is one question anyone on a vegetarian or vegan diet is used to hearing it
is the above. That the asker is usually genuinely confused and concerned is
symptomatic of a massive and widespread misunderstanding about what protein
is and how the body uses it. Most of us grew up conditioned to believe that the
best place to get protein is from animal foods and that every other source is
suspect. But nothing could be further from the truth.

In reality, meeting protein needs without animal foods is easy, and raw vegans
are the least likely group of all to have a protein deficiency for one simple,
biochemical reason: the highest-quality, most easily digestible source of protein
for humans is raw plant protein. Meanwhile, the foods most people automatically
think of when they hear the word protein - i.e. meat, fish, eggs and dairy - are
actually second-class, inferior sources. If all this turns everything you thought you
knew about protein on its head, bear with me! In this article I will explain the
science behind these statements.

Even in raw vegan circles the subject of protein can be a controversial one, albeit
for different reasons. Here the debate is not about whether we need animal
protein, because by definition we all agree we do not. The divide exists between
the Natural Hygiene stance that protein is a non-issue because our protein needs
are extremely low - and the opposing view that it pays to be aware of which foods
are the best sources of protein on our chosen diet and make sure we include
them regularly.

2nd Dinner in Buddinge, Søborg

Today I went to a nice supermarket just bellow the flat where I live. First some friends told me to avoid because of prices but as I was a bit tired from "running around" in Copenhagen I decided to have a look and buy some stuff I needed.

For my surprise the prices are cheaper compared Portugal, where life standards are much lower. And for the best, they have a great selection of organic food that rivals the best Portuguese supermarkets, at a very reasonably price. Bought some and made a nice dinner - maybe not the best gourmet design but taste was great.

Here it goes...

Lunch at 42 Raw

The food at 42°Raw was "designed" by chefs Bo Lindegaard and Lasse Askov.

The menu is based on food from the season, all organic. They serve salads, smoothies and sweets and special dishes like Raw Pizza, Raw Sandwiches all well presented, very tasty and if you choose "Take-Way" you get a nice biodegradable packaging. It's a cosmopolitan atmosphere mixed with nice music and nice people (specially the girls...eheheh - Danish women are beautiful, I have to say).

My Lunch

I had a lovely selection of "tapas" that include a bit of Pizza, Sandwich and Avocado Salad with Hummus.

Breakfast in Buddinge, Søborg

I finally got some seeds to sprout at a nice Health Food Shop called PureFood situated at Blågårdsgade, 33, not far from the Raw Tribe. At  PureFood  you can find many nice things to prepare raw food. Seeds to sprout, Seaweed, Superfoods like Raw Cacao, Spirulina, Hemp Seeds, Goji Berries, etc, even Raw Cookies and some fresh products too.

The Breakfast

Left some quinoa, almonds and goji berries soaked overnight.   Mixed a bit of coconut butter, bee-pollen and 2 bananas.

The result - a delicious creammy smoothie, made in DK.

Riz Raz

Yesterday Went to have lunch in Riz Raz Steaks 'N' Veggies.

From what I heard it use to be a vegetarian restaurant but they changed it  and now serve meat on request together with the veggie buffet.

The buffet included many kinds of raw veggies and different cooked Mediterranean Style dishes  and sauces, aubergines, hummus, tahine, tzatziki, pesto, lasagne ,moussaka, spinach sauce, chillies, pasta, pizza, falaffel, bulgur, chickpeas and rice and homemade bread are some of the choices for vegetarians.

If you want to eat only raw you can still prepare a nice dish too.

You can eat as much as you  want from the buffet for less then 80 DKK and the food is fresh and tasty. Good place for those who are looking for a lot of food at a cheap price and where vegetarians and not so veg can share a nice meal.

Got a new apartment to live in Søborg, not far from Copenhagen.

The food processor was quite fast and I got a few "flying bits" around the place but I manage to create a nice Raw Mushroom Soup.

Ingredients: Warm water, Avocado, Basil, Mushrooms, Red Pepper, Courgette (Zucchini),Olive oil, Salt, Pepper, Clorela, Spirulina, Shitake powder (made by me),Kelp,Wheatgrass powder, Himalyan Salt
